Why this part is needed
The coolant outlet (water neck) seals the cylinder head and directs hot coolant to the radiator. It anchors the thermostat and provides a leak‑free hose connection. A tight outlet keeps engine temperature stable, prevents air intrusion, and protects hoses and gaskets. How it works
Coolant exits the engine through this cast housing, passes the thermostat, and flows into the upper radiator hose toward the radiator. A machined sealing face and gasket/O‑ring hold pressure, while the reinforced outlet resists heat, vibration, and corrosion. Proper flow through this outlet is key for steady cooling and reliable warm‑up.

Cracks, corrosion, or a warped flange cause leaks, low coolant, and overheating. Symptoms include sweet odor, white crust around the neck, steam, or visible drips on the block. Continued driving risks head‑gasket failure, warped head, or engine seizure. Replace at first signs or with every thermostat service.
