    Engine Fan Viscous Coupling (Fan Clutch)

    Why this part is needed ️

    This unit controls radiator fan speed to keep engine temperature stable in traffic, towing, and off-road. It engages harder when hot and freewheels when cool, reducing noise, saving fuel, and protecting the engine. A fresh clutch restores factory cooling performance and keeps the A/C effective at idle.

    How it works ❄️

    A bimetal thermal spring senses hot air from the radiator. When temperature rises, it opens an internal valve so silicone fluid moves between drive and driven plates. Fluid shear transfers torque, spinning the fan faster. As air cools, the spring closes the valve, fluid returns, and the fan slips to a quieter, low-drag mode.

    What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

    Stuck freewheeling: overheating, boiling coolant, weak A/C at idle, risk of head gasket damage. Stuck locked: loud fan roar, poor fuel economy, slow warm‑up, extra load on the water pump. Leaks or wobble: silicone oil traces, fan vibration, belt wear. Replace at the first signs of noise, leaks, or high temps.
