Engine Oxygen Feedback Sensor

This sensor is a key part of the engine management system. It measures oxygen level in the exhaust and sends a signal to the ECU, helping the car keep the air/fuel mix correct. When the mix is right, you get smoother driving, cleaner emissions, and better fuel economy βš™οΈ.

Why this part is needed

Modern engines rely on fast exhaust feedback to adjust injection timing and fuel trim in real time. On hybrid systems, accurate feedback is even more important during frequent start/stop events.

How it works

The sensing tip reacts to oxygen content in the exhaust stream. The built-in heater brings it to operating temperature quickly, so closed-loop control starts sooner. The ECU uses this live signal to correct mixture and protect the catalyst ?.

What happens if it’s broken

  • Check Engine light, stored fault codes
  • Rough idle, hesitation, uneven acceleration
  • Higher fuel consumption and strong exhaust smell
  • Failed emissions test, catalyst overheating risk

Compatible Models

  • Outlander PHEV
