Exhaust High Temperature Sensor for Mitsubishi

This exhaust temperature sensor is a key safety and control part in the hot side of the exhaust system. It helps the ECU β€œsee” real exhaust heat so the engine can protect the turbo, DPF/catalyst and manifold from overheating ?.

Why this part is needed

Modern diesel and turbo engines run high exhaust temperatures during towing, hard acceleration, and regeneration. The sensor provides accurate temperature feedback so the ECU can adjust fueling, boost control and aftertreatment strategy to keep temperatures in the safe zone.

How it works

The probe sits in the exhaust stream and converts heat into an electrical signal. The ECU reads this value in real time and reacts by trimming injection timing/quantity, managing EGR and turbo vane position, and controlling DPF regen cycles for clean and efficient operation.

What happens if it’s broken

A faulty sensor can send wrong readings or drop out completely. This may trigger a check engine light, force limp mode, cause weak power, excessive smoke, poor fuel economy, failed regeneration, or in worst cases overheating damage to the turbo or exhaust aftertreatment. Replacing it restores correct temperature monitoring βœ….
