Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor

Why Is This Sensor Needed

The exhaust high temperature sensor measures the heat of your engine's exhaust gases. This data helps the engine control unit (ECU) manage fuel injection and turbo operation, keeping emissions low and performance high. Without this sensor, your vehicle cannot optimize its engine function or emission system.

How Does It Work

This sensor sits inside the exhaust system. It detects rapid changes or high levels of temperature and sends electrical signals to the ECU. The ECU uses this input to adjust engine timing, boost pressure, and after-treatment systems, ensuring everything stays within safe temperature limits.

What Happens If It’s Broken

If the sensor fails, the ECU can't read the real exhaust temperature. This may cause warning lights, poor fuel economy, reduced engine power, or even engine damage. Emission control systems might not work properly, risking higher pollution and possible regulatory trouble.
