Engine Oil Pickup Strainer – Sump Intake Screen ️

Keep your engine safe with this OEM-quality pickup strainer. It guards the oil pump from dirt and metal, so bearings, cams, and chains get clean lubrication. A clean, steady oil feed means cooler parts, quiet running, and long life. Perfect direct-fit replacement for aging, clogged, or dented units.

Why this part is needed ️

The screen sits at the bottom of the oil pan. It stops sludge, RTV crumbs, and filings before they reach the pump. This prevents gear wear and pressure drop. It also controls oil flow under braking, cornering, and acceleration.

How it works

The pump draws oil through the pickup tube and fine stainless mesh. The mesh filters large debris, while the inlet height keeps the mouth just above the pan floor. Internal baffles reduce aeration and help maintain prime, so pressure builds fast after start-up.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Clogging or a cracked tube causes low oil pressure, flickering dash light, lifter tick, timing rattle, and bearing knock. Severe starvation can spin bearings or seize the engine. Replace if the mesh is crushed, the bracket is loose, or the tube O-ring is hard.

Tech notes ️

Always clean the sump, fit a new O-ring, torque bolts to spec, and prime the pump. Short trips and long oil intervals speed up clogging—service on time.
