Engine Oil Pump Assembly οΈ
This oil pump is the heart of the engine lubrication system. It is needed to pull oil from the sump, build steady pressure, and push oil through galleries to bearings, camshaft, timing parts, and turbo (if fitted). Without correct oil flow, metal parts touch each other and wear fast.
How It Works βοΈ
Driven by the engine, the internal gears/rotor create suction, then force oil forward under pressure. A built-in relief valve controls maximum pressure, protecting seals and filters. Clean, stable oil pressure keeps temperatures down and stops sludge from cooking inside the engine.
If the Pump Fails
Low oil pressure warning, ticking noise, overheating, or sudden knocking can appear. If the pump is worn, clogged, or the relief valve sticks, oil starvation happensβleading to spun bearings, scored crank journals, seized camshaft, and total engine failure. Replacing a weak pump early is far cheaper than rebuilding the engine.
