EGR Cooler Assembly for Nissan Diesel Engines
This exhaust gas recirculation cooling unit is designed to lower the temperature of recirculated exhaust before it returns to the intake. It is needed to reduce NOx emissions, keep combustion stable, and help protect the engine from excessive heat under load.
How it works ⚙️
Hot exhaust gas passes through a small heat-exchanger core while engine coolant flows around it. The heat is transferred into the coolant, so the exhaust gas enters the intake cooler and denser. This helps the EGR system work smoothly, improving drivability and supporting cleaner running.
Why replacement matters ✅
If this cooler becomes clogged with soot, cracked, or internally leaks, the engine may lose power, smoke more, or trigger warning lights. A coolant leak into the exhaust path can cause overheating, coolant loss, rough running, and in severe cases serious engine damage. A restricted cooler can also raise EGR temperatures, leading to higher emissions and faster intake carbon buildup.
