    Cam Chain Tensioner Arm Assembly ⚙️

    This engine timing component guides and supports the cam chain so it stays tight and stable during acceleration, cold starts, and high RPM. It is needed because the chain must keep exact camshaft-to-crankshaft timing; even small slack can throw valve timing off. ✅

    How it works

    The arm sits against the timing chain guide path and works together with the tensioning system to control chain whip. As the chain load changes, the arm keeps steady pressure and correct chain angle, reducing noise and preventing chain jump.

    When it’s worn or broken

    A damaged arm can cause rattling on startup, irregular idle, timing drift, and chain slap against the cover. In severe cases the chain may skip teeth, leading to misfire, loss of power, check engine light, and possible valve-to-piston contact on interference engines—an expensive failure.
