Information

Adapter Gasket for Intake System

This OE-grade adapter gasket seals the joint between the throttle/adapter plate and the intake plenum. It keeps unmetered air out, stabilizes engine vacuum, and preserves precise fuel trims. Built from heat‑resistant elastomer on a rigid core, it survives constant temperature swings and manifold vibrations for long service life.

Why you need it

A fresh, tight seal prevents rough idle, hesitation, and lean mixture codes. Any time the throttle body or upper plenum is removed for cleaning or service, this gasket should be replaced to maintain factory airtightness and drivability.

How it works

Under bolt clamping load, the gasket’s sealing bead compresses to fill micro‑gaps between machined faces, ensuring a uniform air path. Proper surface prep and even tightening deliver a reliable, leak‑free seal.

If it fails

  • Hissing/vacuum leak, unstable idle, stalling
  • Check Engine Light (lean trims), poor MPG
  • Throttle lag, reduced power, carbon buildup

Pro tips

  • Never reuse a crushed or hardened gasket
  • Clean mating faces; avoid sealants unless OEM specifies
  • Tighten bolts in cross‑pattern to spec
