Why this part is needed

It transfers camshaft motion to the valve with exact lift and duration. Accurate lash control protects compression, fuel economy, and emissions. Replacing a worn lifter restores quiet operation and shields cams, shims, and valves from damage.

How it works

The cam lobe rides on the lifter face; rotation becomes linear push on the valve via bucket/shim. A pressurized oil film forms between surfaces, carrying load, cooling the contact, and preventing scuffing and galling.

What happens if it’s broken ❗

Expect cold-start ticking, persistent tapping, rough idle, misfire, loss of power, higher fuel use, and metal particles in oil. Left unchecked, it can pit the cam lobe, collapse lash setting, burn valves, and harm the catalyst.
