Why you need it
Valve clearance naturally changes from heat and wear. Without automatic take-up, the engine develops tapping noise, power loss, and extra stress on cam and rocker parts. This adjuster keeps lash in spec, protecting the head and helping emission control.
How it works
Inside is a precision piston and check valve fed by engine oil. As the head expands, oil pressure fills the chamber and the unit lengthens microscopically, removing slack between cam lobe and valve stem. It maintains zero lash during operation, then bleeds down as needed to avoid pump-up at high RPM.
