Heavy‑Duty Engine Exhaust Valve for Workhorse Models
Why this part is needed
This exhaust valve controls the release of burnt gases from the cylinder. A tight seal at the seat keeps compression strong, power steady, and temperatures in check. On busy vans, buses, and light trucks, a fresh valve restores smooth idle, clean emissions, and fuel economy, especially after high mileage or overheating events.
How it works ⚙️
Driven by the camshaft, the lifter and rocker open the valve at the correct crank angle to let exhaust flow out. A tempered spring snaps it shut, and a precision 45° face seals against a hardened seat. Heat‑resistant alloy, straight stem, and true concentric head prevent warping and burning. Correct stem‑to‑guide clearance and set lash maintain quiet, long life.
If the valve is worn or broken ❗
Expect hard starting, low compression, misfire under load, loss of power on hills, backfiring, white/grey smoke, and rising EGTs. A burnt or bent valve can damage the seat, piston crown, or turbo, and will quickly overheat the manifold and catalyst.
Workshop tips
Always inspect guide wear, replace stem seal, verify seat contact width, lightly lap if required, set valve lash/shim to spec, and torque rocker gear evenly. After install, recheck clearances warm.
