    Timing Chain Damper for Toyota Engines

    How it works ⚙️

    A heat‑ and oil‑resistant shoe or pad lightly controls the slack chain span. It absorbs pulses from crank and cams, stopping chain whip. Working together with the hydraulic tensioner, it keeps the chain on its path, reducing shock, noise, and micro‑stretch so timing stays at factory spec.

    When it fails

    Typical signs include cold‑start rattle, metallic slapping, unstable idle, loss of power, misfire, increased fuel use, and a warning light.
