Why this part is needed
This toothed crank pulley keeps your engineβs valve timing perfectly synced. It locks to the crankshaft nose and drives the timing belt, ensuring the camshafts open and close valves at the right moment. Accurate timing means clean starts, smooth idle, strong power, and efficient fuel burn β½.
How it works
Machined with precise teeth and a keyed hub, it meshes with the timing belt like a sprocket βοΈ. The keyway prevents slip, while timing marks help set TDC during service. Balanced and hardened, it resists wear, heat, and oil exposure. In many engines it also presents a trigger pattern for the crank sensor, stabilizing ignition timing.
What happens if it fails
Wear, wobble, or a cracked hub causes belt misalignment, squeal, or jump. Expect rough idle, loss of power, misfire, noβstart, and possible bent valves on interference engines β οΈ.
