Why you need it
This pulley drives the serpentine belt that runs the alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, and often the water pump. Its builtβin damper absorbs crankshaft vibrations, protecting bearings and keeping idle smooth. Replacing a worn unit restores belt tracking, charging performance, cooling, and steering assist.
How it works
A steel hub locks to the crank. A bonded rubber isolator joins the hub to an outer ring with belt grooves. As the engine fires, torsional pulses enter the pulley and the elastomer converts them to heat, stabilizing belt speed and shielding the crank from stress.
What happens if itβs bad β οΈ
Signs include belt squeal, wobble, engine shake, rattling, oil seal weep, battery light, overheating, or heavy steering. If ignored, the belt can jump off, accessories can fail, and the crank keyway or bearings may suffer costly damage.

Precision balanced, corrosionβprotected, correct offset and runout. Always clean the snout, align the key, and torque the bolt to spec. Replace the belt if glazed or cracked.
