Why you need it ✅
Without a healthy crank pulley, the serpentine belts cannot grip or track correctly. The engine’s torsional pulses would travel unchecked through the crank, leading to noise, stress, and premature wear of bearings and accessories.
How it works
The hub locks to the crank nose. An elastomer ring bonds the hub to the outer belt ring. As cylinders fire, this rubber layer absorbs twist, acting as a vibration damper. Precision grooves drive the belts so the alternator charges, the steering stays light, and the A/C stays cool.
What happens if it fails ❗
Common signs: wobble, belt squeal, metallic rattle, shaking at idle, dim lights, heavy steering, overheating. A separated rubber ring can throw belts, damage the keyway, cut the front oil seal, and risk engine misalignment. Replace at the first crack or wobble.
Tech tips
Clean crank snout, align key, use correct torque and a new bolt where specified. Inspect belts and the front main seal while you’re in there.
