Engine Valve Lifter (Hydraulic Tappet) for Subaru Boxer Engines ⚙️
This valvetrain component is needed to keep correct valve clearance and smooth valve timing in Subaru DOHC/boxer setups. It sits between the camshaft lobe and the valve train, helping the engine run quietly, start easily, and maintain steady idle.
How It Works ?
Oil pressure fills the internal chamber and automatically takes up tiny gaps caused by heat expansion and wear. As the cam turns, the lifter transfers the cam motion to open and close the valves while keeping contact stable. This reduces tapping noise and protects the cam lobes and valve tips from impact loading.
Why Replacement Matters ✅
A worn or stuck lifter can’t hold pressure, so the valve train develops clearance. That leads to poor valve lift and unstable timing behavior, especially when cold.
