Engine Valve Lifter (Hydraulic Tappet) ✅
This precision valve-train part keeps your engine running smooth by maintaining the correct clearance between the camshaft and the valves. It is needed to reduce tapping noise, stabilize valve timing, and help the engine breathe correctly under all RPM ranges.
How It Works ⚙️
Inside the lifter, engine oil pressure fills a small chamber and automatically takes up tiny gaps caused by heat and wear. As the cam lobe presses the lifter, the force transfers to open the valve at the right moment. When the cam rotates away, the lifter resets instantly, keeping contact tight and quiet.
Symptoms of a Bad Lifter ?
If it sticks, collapses, or wears out, you may notice ticking/knocking from the top of the engine, rough idle, misfires, loss of power, and poor fuel economy. Continued driving can lead to accelerated camshaft wear, damaged valve train parts, and costly cylinder head repairs.
