Engine Valve Lifter (Hydraulic Tappet) ?️

How it works ⚙️

The lifter rides on the camshaft and uses oil pressure to self-adjust. Oil fills internal chambers, taking up slack automatically. This creates a consistent contact surface, reducing metal-to-metal impact and protecting the cam and valve train.

If the lifter is worn or broken ❌

You may hear ticking/knocking from the top end, get rough idle, misfires, and reduced performance. In severe cases, excessive lash can damage the camshaft, valve tips, or cause accelerated wear that leads to costly engine repairs.
