Viscous Fan Clutch for Mitsubishi SUVs and Pickups

Why you need it ❄️

This cooling fan clutch keeps engine temperature in the safe zone by engaging the radiator fan only when heat rises. It cuts noise and fuel use when cool, then ramps airflow when towing, off‑roading, or idling in traffic. Proper engagement protects the head gasket, radiator, turbo, and transmission cooler from heat stress.

How it works βš™οΈ

Inside is silicone fluid and a temperature‑sensing bimetal spring. As hot air exits the radiator, the spring opens a valve, allowing fluid to couple the drive and driven plates. The fan then spins faster and pulls more air. When temps drop, the valve closes, fluid shears, and the fan freewheels, reducing drag and noise.

Signs of failure and risks

Stuck engaged: constant roar, sluggish power, poor economy, slow warm‑up. Stuck freewheeling: overheating at idle or low speed, weak A/C at stops, boiling coolant, warning light. Leaks or wobble mean worn seal/bearingβ€”replace immediately to avoid overheating and costly engine damage. Fits on the water pump hub; tighten to spec.
