How it works
The cam lobe drives a rocker/lifter to push the stem and open the head at the correct timing. A spring snaps it shut, sealing against the seat. The stem coating fights wear, while the face angle ensures tight contact under heat and load β¨οΈ.
If itβs damaged or worn β οΈ
You may get hard starts, rough idle, popping in exhaust, low compression, misfire under load, overheating valve head, and burned seats. Continued driving can crack the valve, score the cylinder head, and damage the catalyst. Replace in pairs/sets, lap seats if required, check guide play, and fit new stem seals.
