Engine Intake Valve (Replacement)
? This engine intake valve is a precision part that controls how fresh air (and air/fuel mix in some setups) enters the combustion chamber. It’s needed to keep compression strong, fuel economy stable, and idle smooth. When the valve timing event happens, it opens and closes in sync with the camshaft so the cylinder can “breathe” correctly.
How It Works
⚙️ The cam lobe pushes the valve open (through the valvetrain), then the valve spring snaps it shut. A tight seal on the valve seat is critical—this is what holds compression and prevents backflow. Good sealing also helps reduce misfires and keeps emissions in check.
If the Valve Is Worn or Damaged
❗ A bent, burned, or pitted valve may not seal, causing low compression. You may notice rough idle, loss of power, hard starting, popping through the intake, and increased fuel use. In severe cases, engine damage can occur if the valve contacts the piston.
