    Engine Connecting Rod Assembly

    This internal engine part links the piston to the crankshaft and is essential for turning combustion power into smooth rotation 🔧. Every time the air-fuel mix ignites, the piston moves down, and the rod transfers that force to the crank journal, keeping the engine balanced and timed correctly.

    Why this part is needed

    It maintains correct piston travel, supports high RPM load, and keeps oil-clearances stable for long engine life. A healthy rod helps prevent vibration, power loss, and uneven cylinder wear.

    How it works

    The small end rides on the piston pin, while the big end clamps around the crankshaft with bearing shells. Oil forms a thin film between bearing and journal to reduce friction and heat 🛢️.

    What happens if it’s worn or broken

    Common signs include knocking, low oil pressure, metal flakes in oil, misfire under load, or sudden engine lock-up. A failed rod can punch through the block, damage the crank, and destroy the cylinder head—often making the engine uneconomical to repair ⚠️.
