Worn pistons and pins cause blow-by, piston slap, and oil burning. Replacing them brings back sealing, quiet cold starts, stable idle, and better fuel economy. Perfect during a rebuild, after cylinder wear, or when tackling oil consumption and loss of power.
How it works βοΈ
The crown withstands combustion pressure, the skirt guides the stroke, and the full-floating pin links the piston to the connecting rod. A ring pack (compression and oil control) seals gases and meters oil on the cylinder wall. Accurate machining keeps heat expansion controlled and protects the bore.
What happens if itβs damaged
Expect low compression, blue smoke, high oil use, misfires under load, knocking, and scored cylinders. Continued driving risks catalytic converter overheating and, on turbo engines, bearing damage.
