This internal engine part is vital for turning fuel energy into real driving power. It seals inside the cylinder, takes the force of combustion, and transfers that force to the connecting rod through the wrist pin. A healthy piston keeps compression strong, oil control stable, and engine balance smooth.
Why this part is needed β
The piston is the moving βheartβ of each cylinder. It must fit precisely to keep pressure in the combustion chamber and to guide heat away into the cylinder wall.
How it works βοΈ
As the air-fuel mix ignites, pressure pushes the piston down. The wrist pin links the piston to the rod, letting it pivot freely while the crankshaft converts up-down motion into rotation. Ring grooves support piston rings (not included unless specified) to control compression and oil.
What happens if itβs worn or broken ?
Common results include low compression, knocking, smoke from oil burning, heavy blow-by, loss of power, hard starting, and possible cylinder scoring. In severe cases, a cracked piston or loose pin can destroy the engine block.
