Inside the cylinder, it travels up and down, building compression, taking the combustion hit, and sending force through the connecting rod into the crankshaft. The included wrist pin keeps the piston and rod aligned, allowing smooth pivoting with minimal friction.

    A healthy piston set restores correct compression, stable idle, and strong pulling power. It also helps control oil use by keeping the ring pack supported and square in the bore, reducing blow-by and crankcase pressure.

    How it works ⚙️

    During the intake and compression strokes, the piston seals the chamber. At ignition, expanding gases push it down, transferring energy through the pin and rod. On the exhaust stroke, it helps clear gases, preparing the next cycle.

    If it’s worn or broken ❌

    Expect low compression, misfires, knocking, heavy smoke, high oil consumption, and weak acceleration. Severe damage can score the cylinder wall, overheat the engine, and even cause catastrophic failure.
