Engine Cooling Thermostat โ OEM ref 1305A221
This precision thermostat keeps your Mitsubishi engine at the ideal operating temperature for power, economy, and long life. Itโs a direct-fit replacement built for tough SUV and pickup duty.
Why this part is needed ๏ธ
It controls coolant flow so the motor warms up fast, stays near 90ยฐC, and your cabin heater works quickly. Correct temperature reduces wear, fuel use, and emissions.
How it works โ๏ธ
A wax-pellet capsule moves a valve. Cold engine: valve stays closed, coolant recirculates through the bypass. As coolant reaches its set point (about 82โ88ยฐC), the valve opens progressively, sending flow to the radiator for stable temps even under load.
If it fails โ ๏ธ
Stuck open: slow warm-up, poor MPG, weak heat, carbon build-up. Stuck closed: rapid overheating, boiling coolant, warped head, blown gasket. Erratic action: temp swings, fan always on, codes.
Install tips ๏ธ
Replace the seal/O-ring, clean housing, torque evenly, refill with correct coolant, and bleed air. Check hoses and cap.
