    Why you need it ❄️

    Engines run best in a narrow temperature window. The thermostat speeds warm‑up to cut fuel use and wear, then maintains temperature under load. It prevents overheating in traffic and stops over‑cooling on highways.

    How it works ⚙️

    A sealed wax capsule expands with heat and drives a plunger that opens the valve to the radiator. Cold engine: valve closed, coolant loops through bypass for fast warm‑up. Hot engine: valve opens progressively, sending flow through the radiator. The unit seats in the housing with an O‑ring for leak‑free service.

    When it fails

    Stuck closed: temp climbs fast, boiling coolant, pinging, risk of warped head or blown gasket. Stuck open: low gauge reading, weak cabin heat, rich mixture, increased fuel burn, sludge buildup. Leaky seal: coolant loss and hot spots.
