This precision crankshaft sprocket drives the timing chain and locks in exact valve timing. It seats on the crank snout with a keyed hub, transferring torque to the chain so the camshafts stay synchronized for clean idle, strong pull, and reliable starts.
Why this part is needed ?
Install during rebuilds or timing service when teeth are hooked, the keyway is loose, or timing marks are hard to read. A fresh gear restores quiet running, stable ignition timing, and protects the oil pump drive on engines that share this gear.
How it works
Hardened steel teeth match the chain pitch for zero slip. The keyway and timing mark set true TDC, while correct offset keeps the chain aligned with guides and tensioner. A precise bore prevents wobble, cutting wear on the front seal and pump.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Symptoms include cold-start rattle, misfire, loss of torque, backfire, metal flakes in oil, or no‑start from jumped timing. Severe wear can bend valves, damage pistons, and harm the oil pump.

Replace with chain, guides, and tensioner; clean the key; align marks; light oil on the bore; torque the crank bolt to spec; rotate by hand twice before first start.
