Crankshaft Timing Sprocket for Subaru Boxer Engines ⚙️

This precision steel gear drives the timing belt from the crank, keeping camshafts and pistons in exact sync. It is a critical link between the engine bottom end and valve train, designed for long life and clean sensor reading in Subaru boxer layouts.

Why you need it 🔧

Wear, corrosion, or bent teeth can make the timing belt ride poorly and slip. A fresh sprocket restores factory tooth profile, belt tracking, and stable ignition timing. It also ensures correct signal for the crank position sensor when a trigger ring is integrated.

How it works ⛓️

The crank turns the toothed wheel, the belt follows those teeth, and the cams rotate in time. The machined index and timing marks lock alignment during service. Many versions include a reluctor ring so the ECU knows exact crank angle for spark and fuel.

If it fails ⚠️

Symptoms include hard start, misfire, rough idle, loss of power, and check-engine light. If teeth are damaged or the belt skips, valves can hit pistons on interference engines, causing costly damage. Broken trigger teeth can also cause a no-start.

Install tips ✅

Clean the crank snout and sensor face, align timing marks, seat fully without prying on teeth, fit a new belt/tensioner, and torque the crank bolt to spec. Verify belt tracking before closing covers.
