Engine Timing Idler Sprocket
This timing idler sprocket is a key guide wheel inside the engine’s timing drive. It is needed to keep the timing chain running on the correct path and holding stable tension while the crankshaft and camshaft stay perfectly synchronized ⛓️. With proper alignment, valve timing stays accurate, the engine starts easier, and power delivery remains smooth.
How It Works
The sprocket spins freely on its bearing surface and supports the chain as it loops through the timing set. By guiding the chain, it reduces unwanted vibration and helps prevent chain whip at higher RPM. The teeth profile keeps the chain seated correctly, protecting adjacent guides and the tensioner from extra stress.
