Why this part is needed
This kit restores cylinder sealing, power, and clean emissions. Fresh piston rings stop blow‑by, stabilize compression, reduce oil burning, and improve cold starts. Ideal for high mileage engines, smoke under load, or after a hone/rebore during an engine refresh.
How it works
The upper compression rings seal the combustion chamber, keeping pressure above the piston. The oil control ring scrapes excess oil back to the sump. Together they transfer heat to the cylinder wall, maintain correct lubrication, and keep the mixture clean for efficient burn. Correct ring end‑gap and staggered joints are essential; install with the “TOP” mark facing up and lubricate on assembly.
What happens if worn or broken ⚠️
Expect low compression, hard starts, loss of torque, blue exhaust smoke, rising oil use, plug fouling, and catalytic converter damage. Severe cases cause detonation, cylinder scoring, and uneven idle. Fuel economy drops and engine temps rise under load.
