Crankshaft Drive Pulley for Subaru Engines โ๏ธ
This pulley sits on the front of the crankshaft and transfers engine rotation to the accessory belt. It is needed to keep the alternator, A/C compressor, and power steering (if fitted) working smoothly. Many versions also help reduce vibration, protecting bearings and extending belt life.
How It Works ?
As the crankshaft spins, the pulleyโs grooves grip the belt and drive attached accessories at the correct speed. A solid, true-running pulley keeps belt alignment correct, prevents slip, and supports stable charging and cooling performance.
What Happens If Itโs Worn or Broken โ
A damaged pulley can wobble, crack, or separate, causing squealing belts, poor battery charging, weak A/C, and sudden loss of accessory drive. In severe cases the belt can jump off, leading to overheating and roadside breakdown. Ignoring it may also damage the crank seal and nearby components.
Why Replace Early โ
Replacing a noisy or out-of-round pulley restores belt tracking, reduces vibration, and helps prevent repeat belt failures. For best results, inspect the belt, tensioner, and idlers at the same time.
