Engine Oil Pickup Strainer οΈ
This vital sump pickup keeps your engine safe by screening debris before oil reaches the pump. Its fine mesh blocks silicone seal crumbs, carbon, and metal flakes, so clean oil feeds bearings, turbo, and valvetrain. Built to OEM geometry for correct pump depth and prime, it restores factory oil flow and pressure.
Why you need it οΈ
Over time, sludge and gasket residue settle in the pan. Without a healthy pickup strainer, contaminants get sucked into the pump, wearing gears and starving the engine of lubrication. Replacing a tired unit is cheap insurance for long engine life.
How it works
The pickup sits a few millimeters above the pan floor. Under suction, oil passes through a calibrated mesh and up the tube to the pump, then to galleries and the turbo. The anti-drainback design helps the pump keep prime after shutdown for fast pressure on restart.
When damaged or clogged β οΈ
Expect low oil pressure light at idle, noisy lifters, turbo whine, bearing knock, and overheating oil. Severe blockage can cause pump cavitation, metal transfer, and catastrophic seizure. If the mesh is dented or the tube O-ring hardened, air leaks will mimic low oil level.
Tech notes β
Clean the pan thoroughly, replace the pickup O-ring, torque fasteners to spec, and use the correct RTV bead. Always verify pressure with a gauge after install.
