Premium Connecting Rod Bearing Set for Subaru Boxer Engines

This precision bearing set supports the big-end of each connecting rod in Subaru flat-four engines. It keeps the crankshaft journals running on a thin, stable oil film, reducing friction and heat. Choose this set when refreshing the bottom end, curing rod knock, or during a full rebuild for long, quiet engine life .

Why you need it

High load, high RPM, and thin oil can wear the factory shells. Fresh bearings restore correct oil clearance, stabilize oil pressure, and protect the crank. They also prevent costly damage during tuned or hard-driven use.

How it works

Each thin-shell insert sits in the connecting rod and cap, hugging the crank journal. Pressurized oil forms a hydrodynamic wedge between shell and journal. This oil film carries the load, keeping metal parts from touching. Proper crush, alignment, and clearance are key for silent, durable operation.

What happens if it’s worn or broken

  • Cold-start tick or deep rod knock
  • Low oil pressure, metallic glitter in oil
  • Scored journals, spun bearing, seized rod
  • Loss of power, misfire, possible engine failure

Tech notes ️

Measure journals and housings; select correct grade for spec clearance. Clean surfaces, align tangs, use assembly lube, and torque rod bolts to spec. Prime oil system, verify pump and pickup, and run quality oil suited to climate and use.
