This left-hand standard-size, grade B piston set is built for Subaru boxer engines that demand tight sealing and smooth movement. It restores factory compression, reduces blow-by, and keeps oil where it belongs. Coated skirts lower friction, and a matched ring pack (moly top, steel second, segmented oil control) delivers strong sealing under heat and high RPM.
Why this part is needed ?
Use it during an engine rebuild or when you see scuffed skirts, cracked lands, stuck rings, or high oil use. Grade B ensures correct clearance for the matching cylinder group, keeping noise down and power consistent.
How it works
The piston travels up and down via the connecting rod, compressing the air-fuel mix and transferring combustion force to the crankshaft. Rings scrape excess oil and seal combustion pressure, while the wrist pin lets the piston pivot freely. The skirt coating stabilizes the piston at TDC/BDC and improves heat transfer to the cylinder wall.
If it fails ⚠️
Expect low compression, hard starts, piston slap, blue smoke, fouled plugs, higher oil use, misfire codes, and possible cylinder or catalytic converter damage. Replace in matched sets, verify bore size, ring gaps, and install with the LH mark toward the left bank; arrow faces the timing side. Torque to spec and pre-lube.
