How it works
Bolted beneath the block with a formed flange and gasket/RTV, the sump collects returning oil. Internal baffles reduce slosh; the deep well feeds the pickup; the pump then circulates lubricant through galleries and bearings. The drain plug allows quick service—always fit a new crush washer for a drip‑free seal.
What happens if it’s damaged ⚠️
Expect low‑pressure warnings on turns, oil smell, puddles, smoke on the exhaust, ticking or knock, and rising temps. Driving like this can spin bearings or seize the engine. Replace promptly, clean mating surfaces, check the pickup O‑ring, and torque bolts evenly in sequence.
