Crankcase Blow‑By Vent Hose ️
This molded breather hose is a key part of the engine’s PCV system. It routes blow‑by gases from the crankcase back to the intake, keeping pressure balanced, oil inside the engine, and emissions in check . Built from heat‑ and oil‑resistant rubber with precise bends, it seals tight under vacuum and resists collapse during hard acceleration.
Why it’s needed ️
Engines create vapor and oil mist. Without a healthy hose, those gases would leak, pushing out seals, dirtying the bay, and harming air quality. A proper vent path stabilizes idle, protects gaskets, and keeps the intake clean.
How it works ️
Connected between the rocker cover/PCV port and the intake, it uses manifold vacuum to draw fumes through, where they’re burned. Internal diameter and wall strength are tuned to control flow and avoid kinks.
If the hose is damaged ⚠️
Cracks or soft spots cause vacuum leaks, rough idle, whistle, fuel smell, and oil mist around the cover. Expect higher fuel use, check engine light, sludge buildup, and possible turbo/MAF contamination. Replace at the first sign of brittleness, oil swelling, or loose clamps.
