PCV Breather Hose for Subaru Engines 🔧
Why this part is needed
This molded hose is a key piece of the positive crankcase ventilation system. It carries blow‑by gases from the crankcase back to the intake to be burned, keeping crankcase pressure under control, lowering emissions, protecting seals and gaskets, and helping the engine idle smoothly. A healthy PCV path improves fuel economy and keeps oil cleaner longer.
How it works
Under intake manifold vacuum, vapors move through the hose to the PCV valve and into the intake stream. The hose’s oil‑resistant rubber and formed bends prevent kinks and collapse, ensuring steady airflow. OE‑style diameter and fitment maintain correct vacuum and metered flow, avoiding mixture errors and deposits.
If the hose is damaged
Cracks, hardening, or swelling cause vacuum leaks, rough idle, stalling, and fuel trims that trigger a Check Engine Light (lean codes). Expect oil smell, increased sludge, wetness around ports, and possible failed emissions. Prolonged use can push out seals and raise oil consumption. Replace at the first signs of brittleness or oil soak.
Tech tips 🚗
Install with fresh clamps, route away from heat, and inspect the PCV valve at the same time. Typical swap time is 10–20 minutes.
