Upper Crankshaft Thrust Washer for Toyota Engines
This small, semi-circular bearing controls end-float of the crankshaft. It sits in the block’s upper saddle and works together with the lower half in the main cap. Its job is to hold the crank in the correct axial position while you press the clutch, the torque converter loads the crank, or accessories pull on the belt.
Why it’s needed
Proper thrust control keeps gear alignment true, protects the rear main seal, and prevents “crank walk.” It preserves smooth shifting and quiet idle. Without it, the engine loses precision and wears out faster.
How it works
