Premium Engine Crank Main Bearing
This precision bearing supports the crankshaft and keeps it centered in the engine block. It is needed to carry heavy combustion loads, hold correct oil clearance, and reduce friction so your engine runs smooth and quiet. With the right fit and oil film, it prevents metal-to-metal contact and extends engine life, especially under towing, off-road, or hot-climate use.
How It Works ⚙️
Two shell halves sit in the block and cap, forming a perfectly round seat for the crank journal. Under pressure-fed oil, the bearing creates a hydrodynamic film that floats the crank at speed. Grooves and holes route oil to the journals. A steel back with aluminum or tri-metal overlay provides strength, embedability, and wear resistance to handle start-up, heat, and load.
What If It’s Worn or Broken ❗
Symptoms include low oil pressure, cold or hot knock, glitter in oil, and rising temps. Continued use can spin a shell, score journals, drop pressure to zero, and seize the engine. Severe failure may crack caps or damage the block, turning a simple bearing refresh into a full rebuild.
