Crankshaft Main Bearing Set for Smooth Engine Rotation ?

This internal engine bearing supports the crankshaft and keeps it perfectly aligned inside the engine block. It is needed because the crankshaft spins at high speed under heavy load, and it must ride on a thin film of oil instead of rubbing directly on metal.

The bearing shells sit in the block and cap, forming a precise ΠΊΡ€ΡƒΠ³ around the crank journal. Engine oil is fed into the clearance, creating hydrodynamic lubrication. This reduces friction, controls crankshaft end stability, and helps maintain correct oil pressure for the whole bottom end.

Worn or incorrect bearings can increase clearance, causing low oil pressure, vibration, and knocking sounds. Fresh, properly sized bearings restore smooth rotation and protect the crank journals from scoring.
