Why this part is needed
This camshaft sprocket keeps engine valve timing perfectly synchronized with the crankshaft. Correct timing means strong low-end torque, smooth idle, lower fuel use, and clean emissions. If you want factory-spec performance and long chain life, a tight-tolerance cam gear is essential. Built from hardened steel with OEM tooth profile, it resists wear and keeps timing precise under heat and high RPM.
How it works
Bolted to the camshaft, the gear is driven by the timing chain. Each tooth transfers motion so intake and exhaust valves open at the exact crank angle. On engines with MIVEC/VVT, the sprocket must hold phasing accurately while the actuator advances or retards the cam. Proper mesh with the chain reduces noise and prevents stretch and jump. Precision keyway and timing marks ensure correct installation and alignment.
