Engine Piston & Wrist Pin Assembly for Mitsubishi
This internal engine component is the heart of the combustion process. It is needed to compress the air-fuel mix and convert the explosion force into usable motion that turns the crankshaft. Without a healthy piston and pin set, the engine cannot build proper compression or deliver smooth power βοΈ.
How It Works ?
The piston travels up and down inside the cylinder bore. During the compression stroke it seals the chamber (with rings) to hold pressure, then receives the combustion push on the power stroke. The wrist pin connects the piston to the connecting rod, allowing a strong pivot while keeping the piston aligned and stable at high RPM.
Signs of Failure & What Happens if It Breaks ?
If the piston cracks, scuffs, or the pin wears loose, you may notice knocking noise, blow-by, oil burning, loss of power, and hard starting. A failed pin can oval the small-end bushing and damage the cylinder wall. In worst cases, the piston can seize or break apart, leading to severe engine damage and expensive rebuild work.
