Engine Crankshaft Main Bearing – smooth rotation and long life
This OE-grade main bearing supports the crankshaft, stabilizes oil pressure, and protects the engine bottom end. Precision shells restore factory clearance, cut friction, and reduce noise. Durable tri‑metal construction handles high loads and heat for daily use and towing.
Why you need it
The crank carries every combustion stroke. Correct bearing clearance keeps journals centered and the oil film intact. Replacing tired shells prevents metal-to-metal contact, quiets cold starts, and saves the crank and block from costly damage.
How it works ️
Two half-shells sit in the block and cap. Pressurized oil creates a hydrodynamic wedge that floats the crank on a micro-thin film. Grooves and feed holes meter oil to the rods. The steel backing holds shape, the copper/lead core carries load, and the soft overlay traps fine debris.
If worn or damaged ⚠️
Symptoms: low oil pressure, rumble at 1500–2500 rpm, knock under load, glitter in oil, rising temps. Driving on can spin a shell, score journals, drop pressure to zero, and seize the engine.
Tech notes for install ✅
- Measure journals; choose standard or oversize as needed.
- Verify clearance with Plastigage; oil holes must align.
- Use assembly lube, clean seats, fit tangs, and torque in sequence.
