How it works
Two bearing shells seat in the block saddle and main cap. Oil grooves and a micro-finished surface create a hydrodynamic film that floats the crank. With proper torque and alignment, the film stays stable across the rev range, cutting wear and noise.

Signs include low oil pressure, deep bottom-end knock on load, metallic glitter in oil, hot idle rattle, and rising temps. Ignoring it risks spun bearings, scored journals, loss of power, and a seized engine.
Tech notes
