Engine Roll Stop Rod Assembly (Rear Torque Mount) ?
This roll stop rod is a key mount part that controls how much the engine and gearbox can twist when you accelerate, shift, or brake. Modern engines make strong torque, so this component is needed to keep the powertrain steady, reduce vibration, and protect nearby hoses, exhaust joints, and driveshaft angles.
How It Works ⚙️
The rod links the powertrain to the chassis through a metal arm and bonded rubber bushing. The rubber absorbs shocks while the arm limits rotation. Under load, it resists engine “roll” and keeps alignment correct, so gear changes feel cleaner and the cabin stays quieter.
Signs of a Worn or Broken Unit ❗
If the bushing cracks or the mount tears, the engine can move too far. You may notice clunks on take-off, harsh shifts, wheel hop, extra vibration at idle, and knocking when going from Drive to Reverse. Left unfixed, it can stress other mounts, damage exhaust flex sections, and shorten CV joint life.
