Front Crankshaft Oil Seal for Mitsubishi Engines ?
This front main seal keeps engine oil inside the block and dirt out at the crank pulley side. Made from heat‑resistant elastomer with a garter spring, it locks around the crank snout and maintains pressure even under high RPM, heat, and vibration. Ideal for daily driving, towing, and off‑road use.
Why this part is needed ?️
It preserves oil level, protects belts and accessories from contamination, and helps maintain stable oil pressure. A healthy seal prevents mess in the timing cover area and keeps the front of the engine clean.
How it works
The seal is press‑fit into the timing cover. Its precision outer diameter holds position, while the spring‑loaded inner lip hugs the crankshaft. Micro ribs on the lip direct oil back inward, reducing seepage during rotation.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Expect oil mist or drips behind the crank pulley, burning smell on hot parts, slipping belts, alternator contamination, and gradual oil loss. Ignoring it risks low oil pressure, bearing wear, and costly engine damage.
Fitment tips
Inspect the crank sealing surface, clean bore, lightly oil the lip, and press the seal squarely to depth. Do not dry‑install. Torque the crank bolt to spec and verify no lip roll.
