Rear Crankshaft Seal Housing for Mitsubishi ️
This assembly sits at the back of the engine around the crankshaft flange. It centers and supports the rear main oil seal and closes the block-to-pan area to keep oil inside under heat and high rpm. Choose it when rebuilding the bottom end, fixing an oil leak at the bellhousing, or when the old housing is worn or warped. OEM-grade geometry keeps alignment true, which extends seal life and prevents repeat leaks.
How it works
The aluminum case locates the lip seal perfectly square to the crank. The seal’s lip and garter spring ride on the crank journal, maintaining a thin oil film that prevents escape while allowing rotation. The housing also provides the gasket surface to the block and oil pan, stabilizing crankcase pressure and oil level.
What happens if it breaks ⚠️
Signs include fresh oil at the engine–transmission joint, burning oil smell on exhaust, slipping clutch or oily torque converter area, low oil level, and possible bearing wear. A warped case misaligns the new seal and makes it leak again. Replace the seal, use the correct sealant, and torque evenly for a dry, long-lasting repair.
Quality notes ️
Clean machined faces, snug dowel fit, and factory-style grooves deliver quiet, reliable sealing on performance Mitsubishi platforms.
